Forged Steel Gate Valve

Forged steel gate valves are gate valves (valve plates) that move vertically along the centerline of the pipeline. Forged steel gate valves are mainly used for cutting off. Forged steel gate valves are a widely used type of valve, generally used for cutting devices with a diameter DN ≤ 50. Forged steel gate valves are relatively common.

1. Advantages of Forged Steel Gate Valves

Low fluid resistance.

Small external force required for opening and closing.

The direction of the medium flow is not limited.

When fully open, the impact of the working medium on the sealing surface is smaller than that of a globe valve.

Simple shape, good casting process.

2. Disadvantages of Forged Steel Gate Valves

The external dimensions and height are relatively large, requiring more installation space.

During the opening and closing process, there is relative friction between the sealing surfaces, which can easily cause wear.

Forged steel gate valves generally have two sealing surfaces, which adds some difficulty to machining, grinding, and maintenance.

Basic Introduction

As a type of valve, all valves made by forging steel materials are collectively referred to as forged steel valves. The materials for steel parts are ASTM A105, A182 F11, F5, 304, 304L, 316, 316L, etc. The commonly used forged steel gate valves in China usually refer to small diameter forged steel gate valves, with a size range: DN10-DN50; pressure range: national standard PN16-PN320, American standard: Class 150-2500 LB, which can be produced according to American or national standard sizes, and manufacturers generally have stock supplies. Forged steel gate valves with a diameter exceeding DN50 need to be customized, and there is less demand domestically.

Applicable Temperature

Forged steel gate valves are suitable for Class 150-2500 LB, working temperature -29°C to 425°C (carbon steel) or -29°C to 500°C (stainless steel) small diameter pipelines, used as an intermediary in cutting or connecting pipelines. They are widely used in oil pipelines.
